Data Center Assesssment
Service Code :
Data Center (DC)
- DC is a facility or physical location where a company has its operational centers and IT infrastructure. DCs are designed to house and manage computing and networking equipment, servers, storage systems, and other hardware.
- DC tasks for storage, processing and management of enterprise data, applications and services.
- Equipped with various systems, including cooling, power supply, fire fighting, security and redundancy mechanisms, to ensure reliable and safe operation of IT equipment.
- DCs can vary in size and complexity, from small server rooms inside office buildings to large, highly secure, purpose-built facilities.
Disaster Recovery Center (DRC)
- Just like the DC, the DRC is set up as a Disaster Recovery Center, i.e. a separate and geographically remote facility from the main DC. Its primary purpose is to provide redundancy and a backup environment for critical IT systems and data, in case of a disaster or unexpected power outage.
- In the event of a disaster, such as a natural disaster, power outage, hardware failure, or cyber attack, companies can shift their IT operations to DRC to ensure business continuity and minimize down time.
- Note: Critical institutions or companies such as banks, DRC are also DCs because their functions can change at any time. In this case it is often called DC active-active.
Several reasons why DC needs to be assessed
- Major Audit Finding
- There are audit findings in the important category (major audit findings)
- Security Vurnerabilities
- There are problems with Network Security, Access Control, Policy & SOP etc.
- Risk Mitigation
- There are several risks in the DC/DRC area that require mitigation
- Disaster Recovery and Redundancy
- There are problems in terms of disaster recovery, SPOF (Single Point Of Failure) aspects, etc.
- Go Digital
- New business needs, for example 'Go Digital Banking' significantly
- Tier Level Enhancement
- There is a need to raise the Tier level
- Technology Trend and Technology Refresh
- The need to adapt to new technology and/or technological updates
- DC/DRC Certification
- Certification plans and require compliance with international frameworks
Frameworks as a reference are as follows:
- TIA-942
- ISO/27001
- NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology)
- ITSM (IT Service Management)
